Crafting True

Japanese Comfort

At Ikedo Japanese Eatery, every dish is created with one purpose: to bring people together through the comforting flavors of Japan.

Ikedo was founded by Mimi Chi, a local entrepreneur, mother, and passionate host who believed that some of life’s best memories are made around the dinner table. Inspired by years of welcoming friends and family into her home with homemade Japanese meals, Mimi dreamed of creating a restaurant where everyone could experience that same warmth, comfort, and connection.

The name Ikedo translates to “Mimi’s House” — a reflection of our belief that great food matters, but great company matters even more.

Whether you’re sharing ramen with friends, enjoying sushi with family, or stopping in for a quick comforting meal after a long day, Ikedo is meant to feel like home.

What Is Ikedo Like?

At Ikedo, we treat our guests like family.

From the beginning, our mission has been simple:

serve delicious, high-quality Japanese comfort food in an environment that feels warm, familiar, and welcoming.

Think of the feeling of sitting down to a hot meal at a loved one’s home — that sense of comfort and care is what we hope every guest experiences when dining with us.

Why Ikedo Japanese Eatery?

Ikedo is lively, welcoming, and designed for gathering. We blend the energy of a modern Japanese eatery with the warmth of a family dining table.

Our open and inviting atmosphere makes it easy to enjoy a casual lunch, cozy dinner, family outing, or takeout meal on the go. We strive to create a space that feels approachable, accommodating, and genuinely hospitable for everyone who walks through our doors.

At Ikedo, comfort is not just found in the food — it’s found in the experience.

How Did Ikedo Begin?

Ikedo was born from a love of hospitality.

For years, Mimi Chi enjoyed bringing family and friends together over platters of sushi, steaming bowls of ramen, crispy tempura, and homemade Japanese comfort dishes. Wanting to share that joy with the community, she opened the first Ikedo location in Port Washington, New York — the same town where she built her family and roots.

What started as a personal passion became a place where the community could gather, connect, and enjoy comforting Japanese cuisine together.

What Does “Craft Your Japanese Comfort” Mean?

Does Ikedo Offer Vegan or Gluten-Free Options?

Our slogan, Craft Your Japanese Comfort, reflects the flexibility and personalization behind the Ikedo experience.

We believe comfort food looks different for everyone. That’s why our menu is designed to be customizable — allowing guests to mix, match, and create meals that fit their tastes and cravings. Pair your favorite ramen, sushi rolls, donburi, or small plates with Japanese beverages and seasonal specialties to create your perfect comfort meal.

We proudly use fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced from trusted Japanese brands and suppliers whenever possible.

Our menu combines authentic Japanese comfort foods with modern favorites, offering something for everyone — from ramen and sushi to rice bowls, karaage, tempura, street snacks, and desserts inspired by Japan’s home kitchens and festivals.

Every dish is prepared with care, quality, and the spirit of Japanese hospitality.
